Leonardo: Falcon Aviation Services’ AW169 fleet leader sets 2,000FH milestone in operations for Total ABK in Abu Dhabi

Dubai, 17 November 2019 – Leonardo with Falcon Aviation Services of the United Arab Emirates and Total ABK celebrate a major offshore helicopter transport operational flight hour milestone announced at Dubai Air Show today. One of Falcon Aviation Services’ five new generation AW169 light intermediate helicopters has been confirmed as the type fleet leader exceeding 2,000 operational flight hours for Total ABK, out of more than 41,000 total flight hours across a global fleet of over 90 AW169s.

The global launch customer for the OGP-configured AW169, Falcon Aviation Services supports onshore and offshore operations for leading players like Total ABK in Abu Dhabi and others in the region. Falcon Aviation also delivers VVIP helicopter transport services. The introduction of the capable, modern AW169 and Falcon Aviation Services’ expertise is allowing customers to perform a significant leap forward supporting the oil and gas industry in the region. Falcon Aviation Services is a prime customer for Leonardo with its fleet of 11 Leonardo helicopters including two AW189 super-medium aircraft and four AW109 Grand/GrandNew light twins in addition to the AW169s.

A versatile, new generation twin-engine light intermediate category helicopter, the 4.6/4.8 tonne AW169 has been designed in response to the growing market demand for an aircraft that delivers high performance, meets all the latest certification standards and has multi-role capabilities. Orders for more than 200 AW169 helicopters have been signed by over 80 customers in nearly 30 countries around the world to date for a wide range of applications including offshore transport, executive/corporate transport, air ambulance, law enforcement, electronic newsgathering.
