A unique and a complete online learning platform named as ‘One Million Arab Entrepreneur Initiative’ has been launched in an association with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) and Almentor FZCO, whose main objective is to qualify One Million Arab Entrepreneurs by spreading awareness of the concept and importance of entrepreneurship and as well provide ample support to those interested in opening up their businesses and start-ups.

The latest initiative is taken by Dubai Government and in joint decision by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, Crown prince of Dubai, Vice President Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) and as well as ruler of Dubai. He further announced that “this unique and innovative computer programming platform will not just initiate door of abundance learning, but also support in creation of thousands of jobs thereby providing ample employment opportunities for the young Arabs without need for leaving the nation.”

This computer programming will also be considered as “the language of the future” and is a Pan-Arab online learning platform, providing necessary entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to budding as well as well-established entrepreneurs across the Arab world.

What makes it unique and completely different is that this initiative is absolutely free of charge and its primer mission is to reaching 1 million participants by 2021. For supporting the one Million Arabs on their voyage to become professional software developers, A new website, ArabCoders.ae, was developed for mastering the craft on a Free online platform with exceptional varied courses and will also offer online certifications on website development, mobile interfaces, Android applications and training to become a data analyst.

The unique innovative online educational portal is aptly supported by Udacity, an educational organisation that provides online courses, as well as Middle East recruitment website Bayt.com. The platform also provides a specialized and integrated curriculum in computer science and programming, consisting of three months of training courses in close association with the global leading educational institutions and corporate companies.

His highness stated during the initial launch of the programme that “Coding being the language of the Contemporary Era, their primer objective is to enhance the skill sets by educating one million young Arabs, in order to prepare them now for the requirements needed to excel in the future. He further added that this will also pave the way for them to participate in the global economy online.”

Additionally, to the classes as well as job ad postings, the program will also felicitate exceptional, 1,000 plus students for receiving scholarships, although the personal amounts aren’t yet been disclosed off yet. The prizes for students have been set up for totalling US$1.5 million (Dh5.51m).

The top four tutors selected by students will also be incentivised, receiving $200,000 (Dh735,000).

Currently, there is a huge gap in skills and available jobs for youth throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The World Economic Forum (WEF) stated that 65 percent of general public in MENA are under age 25, yet 27 percent of this age bracket is unemployed.

The One Million Arab Coders Club initiatives: –

As per the Dubai Future Foundation that manages The One Million Arab Coders initiative is primarily aimed for creating empowerment for one million young Arabs in the Middle East by training them, enriching their knowledge, improving their skills, providing them with jobs in the modern tech sector, and increasing their expertise in advanced science.

The initiative also will enable young Arab innovators to play a key role in Smart Government, E-Commerce and IT. The E-Commerce sector has become a worldwide $15 billion industry, while the IT sector has reached $3 billion within the Arab world alone, and is growing at an annual rate of 12%.

This initiative is taken into account because the initiative to mastering coding, which can be crucial to meeting the wants of the longer term digital economy.
