UAE Maritime Week kickstart core action plan for a better Maritime Arena future

Under the patronage of the UAE’s Ministry for Energy and Infrastructure, the much-awaited UAE Maritime Week has kickstarted with a bang. The Week that will close upon 16th December 2021, will be offering participants enough prospects for meeting thought-leaders, shaping lasting partnerships, exchange ideas on the current developments in the arena.

As part of this strategic week, the Seatrade Maritime Middle East (SMME), is all set to be scheduled to commence from 13th-15th December 2021 held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Featuring the sessions powered by Seatrade ShipTech and TOC Middle East, the agenda will touch upon topics like seafarer safety, the supply chain of tomorrow, digitalization and data, regulation updates and decarbonization, and sustainable shipping.

Aiding the industry’s recovery

The maritime industry has faced unprecedented challenges over the past two years. To shed light on the current state of affairs, SMME will bring together spokespersons from government and private sector organizations in a keynote session titled “State of the Middle East Maritime Industries”.

As per the UAE Maritime Week report, the core speakers comprise H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), H.E. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport and Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director, DP World UAE & Jafza.

The Panellists will also be analyzing and looking forward to the hurdles facing shipping and logistics in the Middle East, how they have re-shaped the industry.

Chris Stated: “We are still recovering from the aftermath of the pandemic that has changed the way we live and conduct business. Inspiring positive change 

SMME has also announced a strategic partnership with the Norwegian Pavilion that is part of Expo 2020 Dubai for the Sustainable Oceans Forum. The partnership will facilitate panel discussions with experts from the shipping industry on decarbonization, alternative fuels, hybrid-powered vessels, energy transition, and digitalization, and sustainability in the industry.

Chris elaborated, “Every year, we ensure the introduction of new initiatives in a collaboration that will benefit industry stakeholders. This year, in association with Fichte & Co, we will introduce the ‘The Maritime Excellence Forum’ that will take place on 14 December 2021 at SMME. 

He also added: “Seasoned professionals from organizations like E Ships, Societe Generale, Safana Maritime, P&O Maritime Logistics, Seamaster and Global Marketing Systems (GMS), will discuss compliance, legal risks, and finance and prospects that will enable the UAE to continue evolving into a competent maritime business centre.” 

Throughout the course of the week, experts from leading maritime organizations comprising off the DNV, Al Tamimi & Co, ABS, Tomini Shipping, Inmarsat Maritime, Yara Marine Technologies, Wartsila, BOXBAY, Kongsberg Maritime, IB Marine, KOTC, Ince Consultancy, among others will initiate dialogue by highlighting the latest developments in the industry

UAE Maritime Week under the patronage of MOEIUAE Exhibition Center at Dubai Expo 2020

The UAE Maritime Week will give attendees an opportunity to be a part of several other events including the Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa, in association with Lloyd’s List, the Seatrade Maritime 20 Under 40 Awards, and exclusive experiences such as Maritime Leaders Forum and Experience Maritime.
