Microsoft has successfully participated as a Strategic and Sustainability Partner, and Sustainability Transformation Zone Partner at IDC Middle East’s (ME) CIO Summit held at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai on 22 and 23 February 2023. The event brought together some of the region’s most prominent C-suite executives to explore the current state of the digital economy and the latest innovations to benefit citizens, customers, employees, and operations.

Jyoti Lalchandani, IDC’s group vice president and regional managing director for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa

Jyoti Lalchandani, IDC’s group vice president and regional managing director for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa stated “We are delighted that Microsoft joined us as our Strategic Partner and Sustainability Transformation Zone Partner for this year’s edition of the IDC Middle East CIO Summit. As the rise of the digital economy continues to gather pace, there is a growing focus across the region on the infrastructure, innovation platforms, skills, and work models that are required to support the expansion of digital businesses. At the same time, the issue of sustainability is gaining considerable prominence, with around one-third of the CIOs surveyed by IDC in the Middle East have already started the data discovery process to identify the internal systems that house the key data required for them to drive sustainability initiatives.”

Naim Yazbeck, General Manager, Microsoft UAE

“We are pleased to have been the Strategic Partner and Sustainability Partner at this year’s CIO Summit,” said Naim Yazbeck, General Manager, Microsoft UAE, who accepted an appreciation award on behalf of the company “The world continues moving fast, and business leaders must constantly find ways of keeping pace with innovation. At Microsoft, we believe that the coming months and years will be defined by how well enterprises address the issues of sustainability hybrid work, and how to achieve more in current economic conditions. Our solutions are designed for what’s ahead, and we look forward to sharing those innovations.”

Industry source added that with the Dubai-hosted COP28 climate conference just months away, Microsoft brought a strong message of sustainability to this year’s event. The company conducted a live demonstration of its cutting-edge industrial metaverse scenarios using the powerful combination of Microsoft Azure and the HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset and launched Windows 365 Cloud PC in the UAE data center.

Windows 365 Cloud PC is built for the new world of work. It combines the power and security of the cloud with the versatility and simplicity of the PC to allow remote users to stream the full Windows experience – including personalized apps, content, and settings – from the trusted Microsoft Cloud to their preferred device. At the CIO Summit, Microsoft showed delegates how Cloud PC allows everyone from contractors and interns to software developers and industrial designers to stay connected and productive.

In the Sustainability Transformation Zone, Microsoft partnered with PTC to showcase the innovative power of the industrial metaverse using Mixed Reality, IoT and AI. By leveraging immersive technologies in the cloud, the industrial metaverse is reshaping collaboration between humans and machines to enhance the design, construction, operation, and optimization of physical systems, to ultimately improve sustainability and efficiency.

Live demonstrations of PTC Vuforia on Microsoft HoloLens 2 and PTC ThingWorx on Microsoft Azure will showcase how organizations can achieve operational efficiency, improve workplace safety and productivity and innovate for a more sustainable future.  Microsoft also showed event attendees how to futureproof their business and meet their sustainability goals, with Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability.
