Total Energies partners UDST for Professional Training-Dev. Programs

TotalEnergies Qatar and University of Doha for Science and Technology sign a cooperation agreement

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has announced the signing of a three-year cooperation agreement with TotalEnergies Qatar. The agreement’s core focus is to enhance the professional development of UDST students and graduates by offering dedicated training and development programs at TotalEnergies and boosting the partnership between the two institutions.

Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, and Matthieu Bouyer, Country Chair, TotalEnergies Qatar, and Managing Director, TotalEnergies EP Qatar, signed the agreement on the University’s campus in the presence of officials from both institutions.

Dr. Salem Al-Naemi stated, “We are delighted to sign this agreement with TotalEnergies Qatar. As the nation’s leading applied sciences university, UDST continues to build a portfolio of leading-edge programs to educate and empower the country’s future professionals across multiple sectors. We also strive to provide our students with unparalleled access to real work in the industry. This partnership will help provide our students with invaluable exposure to real-world challenges and opportunities in the oil and gas sector. It also supports our mission of developing a skilled and sustainable workforce in Qatar.”

Matthieu Bouyer commented on this occasion, “Our collaboration with UDST is a good example of what our TAMKEEN program can bring, enriching students and young professionals with new skills and competencies through engagement, training and career opportunities. We are committed to supporting, utilizing, and developing Qatari talents so they, in turn, can play an active role in the energy industry in Qatar and abroad.”

Industry sources added that the agreement will serve as a framework for several planned projects to be carried out between the two entities. These comprise of the work placements for selected UDST students, as well as work placements, and short-term industry postings for academic staff from UDST to identify potential applied research opportunities. UDST will also integrate TotalEnergies’ Al Reyada program, an initiative designed to bring together academia and industry professionals to tackle energy-related challenges, as an essential part of several degrees, and TotalEnergies will be able to help students select suitable capstone projects for their final year of study.

This agreement is part of TotalEnergies’ broader TAMKEEN program that aims at developing human capacity and local talents through multiple initiatives such as training, internships, and education. Industry sources further added that the Cooperation Agreement between UDST and TotalEnergies Qatar is a significant step in advancing Qatar’s workforce development and supporting the growth of the country’s energy industry.
