Fernando Plaza becomes the new Chief Digital Officer at ADIB

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has appointed Fernando Plaza Lopez as its new Chief Digital Officer. Fernando will be responsible for driving bank-wide digital strategy, including innovation, digital products, development, omnichannel and Agile initiatives.

With over two decades of experience in the digital and payment industry, Fernando is an accomplished industry expert with a proven track record of driving growth in high-growth, fast-paced businesses. Throughout his career, Fernando has navigated the digital and payment industry at all levels, from startups to large corporations. He has held senior leadership roles at reputable organizations such as Lloyds Banking Group, Vodafone Group, Emirates Group, Al Rajhi Bank, and Arab National Bank.

In his previous role as Chief Digital Officer at Arab National Bank, Fernando established a new business unit to drive digital, fintech, payments, and remittances growth. He led the digital transformation of the bank’s remittance business, driving online banking revenue growth, creating a payments group for Point of Sale, eCommerce acquiring, international remittances, and establishing a fintech partnership program, among other achievements.

ADIB continues to invest in technology to make its operations more effective and efficient. The Bank is well-positioned to further strengthen its digital capabilities and drive innovation in the banking industry.
