FTS Cleanrooms, a UAE-based provider of turnkey engineering solutions for the healthcare sector, has completed the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for a new Daycare Surgery Centre at Al Raha Hospital, a trusted healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi, as part of the hospital’s expansion of its surgical care services.
The project required robust HVAC, plumbing, and drainage systems engineered to meet strict environmental and operational standards for a surgical environment, delivered within the technical constraints of an occupied high-rise building. Challenges included limited space for equipment installation, restricted duct routing through vertical shafts, and coordination with existing building systems, all while ensuring the surgical workflow met international healthcare standards.
FTS Cleanrooms deployed a multidisciplinary team of HVAC engineers, MEP specialists, and healthcare planners to deliver the project. The scope included the installation of low-side HVAC systems using energy-efficient Fan Coil Units (FCUs) and split AC units for zoned temperature control, alongside a high-side HVAC system combining Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology with Air Handling Units (AHUs) to maintain the regulated air quality required for day surgeries. The team also completed pressurised water supply lines and medical-grade drainage systems, using 3D planning and intelligent routing strategies to integrate all utilities within the building’s limited space without compromising accessibility or compliance.

The completed Daycare Surgery Centre now operates with stable environmental conditions tailored to surgical procedures, alongside efficient and hygienic plumbing and drainage networks, and was delivered within the agreed project timeline.
“This project shows what’s possible when engineering precision meets a genuinely difficult site,” an FTS Cleanrooms representative said. “Delivering a fully compliant surgical environment inside a live high-rise building, without disrupting the hospital’s operations, is exactly the kind of complex healthcare infrastructure work we specialise in across the region.”
The project adds to FTS Cleanrooms’ growing portfolio of MEP and HVAC installations for hospitals and healthcare facilities across the UAE and wider GCC region.
