Smartlog will implement Oman’s first AutoStore system for Saud Bahwan Group, a leading automotive spare parts distributor in the country. The project will create a new automated storage and order fulfilment operation designed to increase capacity, strengthen traceability and support the company’s future growth.
The AutoStore system will provide high-density bin storage served by robots moving across the grid.CarouselPorts and ConveyorPorts, all equipped with PPS technology, will support inbound and outbound processes.Galys WMS and Galys Monitor will coordinate and supervise the operation in real time.
Saud Bahwan Group manages a broad range of automotive spare parts, requiring an operation capable of handling different order profiles while responding quickly to urgent requirements. The new solution has been designed around this need, combining high-density storage with goods-to-person order preparation.
The heart of the project will be an AutoStore system. AutoStore is a high-density, goods-to-person storage system in which robots move across the grid to retrieve the required Bins and bring them directly to the workstations, reducing manual travel within the warehouse.
The grid will be served by CarouselPorts for order fulfilment and ConveyorPorts for inbound operations, all equipped with PPS technology. At the picking stations, operators will be guided by Pick-to-Light technology at each workstation, enabling them to prepare several orders simultaneously and prioritize urgent requests when required. Inbound goods will be pre-classified into trolleys before being introduced into the system through the conveyor ports. This flow will support the efficient storage of medium- and low-moving references received in multi-SKU pallets.
A connected and scalable operation
The solution will integrate Galys Auto to coordinate the system’s material flows, together with Galys Monitor for real-time supervision. An innovative camera technology will also be incorporated to record operational evidence and reinforce traceability throughout the process.
The system will provide Saud Bahwan Group with the capacity required for its current operation while allowing for anticipated future growth in demand.
