Trend Micro’s report suggests blocking of 46 million cyber threats in UAE

Trend Micro, a pioneer in cybersecurity solutions, recently released the Midyear Security Roundup for H1 2021: Attacks from All Angles. This report offers insights on the progressed threat landscape from the initial half of the year and offers a strategic guidance for leaders to shield their firms in the digital economy.

The report stated out that globally Trend Micro solutions blocked 40.9 billion email threats, malicious files and malicious URLs for clients in H1 2021, with a 47% year-on-year increase. Ransomware persisted the standout threat in the initial half of the year as cybercriminals sustained to target big-name victims.

They utilized the Advanced Persistent Threat tools and procedures to steal and encrypt victims’ data. The banking industry was strangely affected, feeling a 1,318% year-on-year upsurge in ransomware attacks in the initial half of 2021.

According to the firm, In UAE itself, it detected and blocked over 15 million (15,643,376) email threats, prohibited over 13 million (13,493,892) malicious URL victim attacks, and over 116K (116,177) URL hosts. Additionally, over 2 million (2,556,685) malware attacks were acknowledged and made immobile, while over 400 (456) online related banking malware threats were blocked.

The report also displayed that home networks in UAE were a major charm for cybercriminals looking to axle to corporate systems, devices, and networks. As per the Trend Micro’s report, its Smart Home Network (SHN) solutions obstructed approximately 10 million (10,259,880) SHN inbound and outbound attacks combined, thwarting over 4 million (4,627,889) such SHN events for hackers to target or control home devices from executing malware, locating sensitive data, intercepting communications, or launching external attacks.
