Tadweer signs MoU with Saudi SIRC

The Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) to explore potential investment opportunities in the waste management and recycling sector.

The MoU was signed by Eng. Ali Al Dhaheri, Chief Executive Officer of Tadweer, and Eng. Ziyad Al Shiha, Group CEO of the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), at SIRC’s headquarters in Saudi Arabia, in the presence of a number of officials from both parties.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will seek to enhance collaboration and jointly explore investment opportunities in regional and global markets. They will also discuss joint options for adopting optimal recycling technology and solutions, and work to identify feasible solutions to treat and convert municipal solid waste into energy and sustainable aviation fuel. The two parties will also explore opportunities for cooperation in training, capacity building, and creating awareness in the sector, in addition to conducting studies and research, and exchanging knowledge and expertise in the field.

Eng. Ali Al Dhaheri, CEO of Tadweer, said: “This agreement is a significant step towards developing potential investment opportunities in the waste management sector in Saudi Arabia and internationally, by exchanging expertise and knowledge with SIRC to reach effective investment solutions for waste treatment, and utilize waste in various sectors.”

“The agreement comes in line with the Company’s commitment to play a key role in converting waste into an economic resource and deploying innovative technologies and solutions to achieve optimal utilization of resources. It supports our efforts to realize our wise leadership’s vision to reduce the diversion of waste to landfills in accordance with the highest standards and practices,” Al Dhaheri added.

Al Dhaheri said: “Tadweer is committed to establishing partnerships and cooperating with local and international companies specialized in the waste management sector, particularly in Saudi Arabia, which the aim of supporting various sectors in the two countries that are responsible for providing a healthy and safe environment for people.”

Tadweer has recently signed five operations contracts with a value of over AED2 billion at EcoWASTE 2023 Exhibition and Forum. The contracts, which were signed with Alphamed Abu Dhabi LLC and Terberg RosRoca Vehicle Manufacturing, Beeah Sharjah Environment Company LLC, Averda Waste Management LLC, and JV Lavajet Al Ain/Nael & Bin Harmal Hydroexport LLC (NBHH), cover solid waste collection and transportation services, public cleaning services in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and waste containers management and maintenance in Abu Dhabi.
