Mehmet T. Nane, Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Pegasus Airlines, has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors following the decision taken by the Board of Directors after the Ordinary General Meeting on Thursday, 30 March 2023. Mehmet T. Nane succeeds Ali Sabancฤฑ, who served as Chairperson of the Board of Pegasus for 17 years. Ali Sabancฤฑ will continue to serve as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Esas Holding and as Board Member of Pegasus Airlines.
Mehmet T. Nane, who joined Pegasus Airlines in March 2016, served as CEO of the company for six years before assuming the position as Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Managing Director in March 2022. Mehmet T. Nane, who continues to serve in various national and international bodies including his roles as Chair of the Board of Governors and the Chair Committee of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Private Aviation Enterprises Association (TรSHฤฐD), will continue his duties at Pegasus Airlines as Chairperson of the Board of Directors.
Mehmet T. Nane graduated from the department of International Relations at Boฤaziรงi University and began his career in 1988. Until 1997, he held positions in various business units at Tรผrkiye Emlak Bankasฤฑ, Demirbank and Demir Invest respetively. From 1997, when he joined the Sabancฤฑ Group, until 2005, he held roles that included Vice President of the Strategic Planning and Project Development department, Director of the Retail Group and General Secretary of Sabancฤฑ Holding. He served as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Teknosa between 2000 and 2005, CEO of Teknosa between 2005 and 2013, and CEO of CarrefourSA between 2013 and 2016. In March 2016, he joined Pegasus Airlines.
Mehmet T. Nane has served as Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Retailers Federation (FAPRA), Founding Chairperson of the Turkish Federation of Shopping Centres and Retailers (TAMPF), Food Retailers Association (GPD) and Chain Stores Association (ZMD), President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Retail Council, Chairperson of the Board of the SEV Health and Education Foundation, and Chairperson of the Association of the Harvard Business School Turkish Alumni Association. He currently holds the following positions in various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs): Chair of the Board of Governors and the Chair Committee of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Chairperson of the Board of the Turkish Private Aviation Enterprises Association (TรSHฤฐD), Vice President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Civil Aviation Council, Vice President of the Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TTYD), Member of the Board of Trustees and Board Member of the TOBB GS1 Tรผrkiye Foundation, Member of the Board of Trusteesย of the SEV Health and Education Foundation, Member of the Board of Trustees and Board Member of the Boฤaziรงi University Foundation.
Mehmet T. Nane is a Founding Member of the Yanฤฑndayฤฑz Association and Women in Technology Association (WTECH) and he joined the PWN Equality Ambassadors as a part of the Manifesto of Gender Equality Supporting CEOs by Professional Women Network (PWN) Istanbul.
