Launched in 2025, the solar-first hybrid system combines a 148.5 kW photovoltaic array, 430 kWh battery storage, and intelligent automation to significantly reduce reliance on diesel generation.
The project has reduced generator runtime from continuous operation to less than four hours per day, with more than 85% of the facilityโs power supplied by solar energy and battery storage. As a result, annual emissions are projected to decrease by approximately 1,930 tonnes of COโ while substantially lowering fuel consumption, operating costs, and noise levels.

Developed in the Magwa Sabkha area, the innovative subsurface dewatering solution combines purpose-built dewatering wells with a tailored Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) programme to sustainably reduce groundwater levels and unlock access to critical oil reserves.
The initiative successfully lowered the water table from just 0.5 metres below the surface to 3 metres, enabling drilling operations that were previously constrained by challenging ground conditions. Beyond its technical success, the project delivered more than 90% savings in location construction costs while facilitating the deployment of an eight-well drilling pad with an expected production capacity of 9,980 barrels of oil per day.
