Ericsson and Mobily Partner for AI Networks in Saudi Arabia

Ericsson and Mobily have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at LEAP 2026 to explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Radio Access Networks (RAN), through rApps running on the Ericsson Intelligent Automation (EIAP) Platform, to optimize network performance and advance Mobilyโ€™s journey toward autonomous networks in Saudi Arabia.

The collaboration focuses on AI in RAN software functionalities operating across RAN Compute, radio, and Active Antenna Systems (AAS), together with centralized AI use cases enabled by rApps on the EIAP platform. These capabilities are intended to complement each other by enabling intelligence and automation across the network, from the RAN edge to centralized operations.

By making the network more intelligent, automated and responsive, the collaboration will help create a strong foundation for future AI-native applications and advanced digital experiences, including augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), autonomous vehicles and physical AI.

In addition to exploring the technical capabilities of the EIAP platform, Mobily will join the EIAP ecosystem, the industryโ€™s leading ecosystem for rApps, with its more than 100 available rApps from over 100 members. The ecosystem provides access to a range of tools and support systems, including software development kits and an AI-powered rApp Developer Assistant, enabling developers and ecosystem partners to build and integrate applications. Through the rApp directory of available rApps, and this open ecosystem, Mobily will have access to a community of software vendors, developers and ecosystem partners that may provide rApps that address network requirements in Saudi Arabia.

The MoU builds on Ericsson and Mobilyโ€™s previous AI-driven collaboration to support network operations, performance, and customer experience during Hajj 2025. This includes the deployment of Explainable AI and the trial of the AI-powered 5G Uplink Interference Optimizer rApp to proactively manage network interference.

This further strengthens the partnership between Ericsson and Mobily in leveraging Ericsson telecom-grade AI innovations to enhance automation, network performance, and customer experience.

Following the successful AI-driven initiatives during Hajj 2026, Ericsson and Mobily will continue to explore how AI-driven automation can support network evolution, enhance operational efficiency and contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 AI ambitions.
