A non-profit association, The MicroInsurance Network (MiN), is delighted to announce that insurtech expert Michele Grosso is joining its Board of Directors. Michele is the Co-Founder and CEO of Democrance, a global insurtech with the mission to make insurance accessible and affordable for those who need it most, particularly in emerging and mobile-first markets.

Industry sources added that Michele had established Democrance in 2015 to help insurers increase digital sales and unlock new markets while simultaneously creating social value for populations that had previously been excluded from the protection and benefits of insurance.

Before Democrance, Michele held several senior roles across leading consulting, financial, and insurance companies including MetLife, AXA, BNP Paribas, PWC, and Candesic.

Lorenzo Chan, Chair of the Microinsurance Network’s Board of Directors

Lorenzo Chan, Chair of the Microinsurance Network’s Board of Directors, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michele to our Board of Directors. He brings an impressive experience in digital and technological innovation as well as the efficient distribution of affordable and accessible insurance in various markets. We are excited to collaborate with him and look forward to his contributions as the Network continues its mission of driving inclusive insurance and bringing protection to the underserved and those who need it most.”

Michele Grosso commented: “There is irrefutable evidence that inclusive insurance has the potential to make a significant and enduring contribution to public policy goals and to closing the global people protection gap. The use of technology and digital innovation is key to filling the gaps in the penetration of insurance – particularly in terms of helping to bring insurance to new, often hard-to-reach communities – and I am very much looking forward to working with the excellent MiN team, its members and partners on the ground to bring about meaningful change.”

Industry sources added that The MiN is based in Luxembourg, a recognized center of excellence for financial inclusion.  Supported by the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs – Directorate of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs and Ministry of Finance, it celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022 and is uniquely positioned within the inclusive insurance ecosystem through its diverse, global community of more than 500 experts and practitioners from over 70 countries. The Network’s strategic vision for 2026 contains several clear actions that will further deliver accessible insight, data, and country-level knowledge on implementing inclusive insurance programs around the world.
