In a decisive move to accelerate its global ecosystem-led growth strategy, Cloudera has announced the appointment of tech veteran Koen van Erp as the new EMEA Alliances and Channels Leader. Van Erp steps into the role to steer the companyโ€™s regional channel architecture, empowering partners to unlock high-value opportunities across hybrid data architectures and enterprise artificial intelligence.

With over 15 years of deep industry expertise building high-performing commercial teams and partner networks, Van Erp brings a formidable track record to Cloudera. His career highlights include a successful 12-year tenure at Google, where he scaled the EMEA partner sales operation for Google Cloud Security to more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer at IronCloud, shaping the go-to-market framework for their AI-driven Security Operations as a Service platform.

Driving Precision with Regional and Sovereign Cloud Alliances

At Cloudera, Van Erp will take charge of the EMEA channel strategy, collaborating closely with the regional sales organization to position partners as key multipliers of market value. His strategic focus will target regional system integrators, prioritizing the complex regulatory and Sovereign Cloud requirements rapidly emerging across European markets.

Additionally, Van Erp will boost the core alliances with global technology leaders, including:

  • Hyperscalers and Cloud Infrastructure Leaders: AWS and IBM.

  • Hardware and AI Pioneers: Nvidia, AMD, and Dell Technologies.

Eliminating the ‘Fragmentation Tax’ via the Cloudera Partner Network

Van Erpโ€™s onboarding arrives at a pivotal structural shift for the industry. For years, organizations have been constrained by an industry-wide “fragmentation tax”โ€”forced to compromise between disconnected public clouds or cost-intensive, siloed on-premises infrastructure. Cloudera is directly mitigating this friction by delivering a unified, highly flexible data platform.

The Cloudera Partner Network (CPN) remains fundamental to this operational push. The robust program provides partners with localized expertise, extensive financial incentives, specialized training tools, and expanded development funding. Under Van Erp’s leadership, CPN is positioned to eliminate data friction and deliver local market precision on a global scale.

Michelle Hoover, SVP, Alliances and Channels, Cloudera stated on the appointment of Koen Van Erp that “Iโ€™m excited to welcome Koen to Cloudera to help drive this vision across EMEA. Our partner-led motion is already delivering incredible value, with partner-sourced deals closing faster, achieving higher win rates, and driving larger expansion sizes. Koen’s experience building high-performing channel teams will be instrumental as we execute our strategic vision to make our world-class partner ecosystem the primary accelerator for Clouderaโ€™s growth and customer success.”

According to Michelle Hoover, Senior Vice President of Alliances and Channels at Cloudera, the companyโ€™s partner-led motion is already yielding significant dividends. Partner-sourced engagements are demonstrating faster closing velocities, elevated win rates, and larger expansion footprints, positioning the partner network as the primary engine for Cloudera’s regional growth.

Mr. Hoover also added that “For a decade, the industry has been stalled by a ‘fragmentation tax’ that forces customers to choose between siloed public clouds or expensive on-premises hardware. As we move into an era of convergence and convenience, Cloudera is officially solving this challenge by delivering a unified platform.”

โ€œStrong ecosystems are not built by simply adding more partners,โ€ said Koen van Erp, EMEA Alliances and Channels Leader at Cloudera. โ€œThey are built by focusing on the right relationships, understanding what partners need to grow, and creating the conditions for them to invest back into customers. We are handing our partners the keys to the most flexible architecture in the market. I look forward to supporting our partner ecosystem as they help customers turn the complexity of hybrid data and AI into a competitive advantage and realise the full value of Clouderaโ€™s Data Anywhere, Cloud Anywhere, and AI Anywhere capabilities.โ€
