DAMAC Digital, a leading global digital infrastructure provider, and Vodafone Türkiye have inaugurated the first phase of Aegean Region’s largest data center in Izmir, marking a major milestone in their long-term partnership to advance Türkiye’s digital infrastructure.
Industry sources added that it is built with an investment of approximately US$100 million, the facility will initially deliver 4 MW of capacity, with plans to scale to 20 MW. As part of the long-term partnership between DAMAC Digital and Vodafone Türkiye, total investment is targeted to reach approximately US$300 million, while the facility’s capacity is planned to increase to 20 MW.

Industry sources added that this facility was officially inaugurated at a ceremony attended by Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu; Vodafone Türkiye CEO, Engin Aksoy, and senior executives from DAMAC Digital.
Spanning 7,500 sq m, the Izmir Data Center will accommodate more than 650 cabinets and initially operate with 4 MW of capacity.
The data center features a highly secure infrastructure compliant with international standards and a scalable architecture designed to support advanced artificial intelligence workloads. Its infrastructure will support next-generation graphics processing unit technologies, enabling both traditional AI applications and generative AI models to operate securely and at scale.
Built with seismic isolation technology, the data center provides enhanced protection against earthquakes and other natural hazards, supporting long-term operational resilience, security and service continuity.
The strategic location of the Izmir Data Center is a key component of the investment. Its proximity to submarine cable landing stations connecting Europe, Africa and Asia positions Izmir as an emerging data center and connectivity hub for Türkiye and the wider Mediterranean region.
