Marriott International, Inc. recently announced a landmark agreement with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places to develop nine total properties, representing over 1,500 keys, across Egypt’s most sought-after coastal and urban destinations. The multi-deal agreement is designed to enhance the breadth of Egypt’s hospitality experiences and luxury living offerings, while supporting the country’s broader ambition to grow its tourism sector and reinforce its position as a compelling destination for international investment.
Industry sources added that spanning beach resorts, urban hotels and branded residences across Marriott’s luxury and premium brands, the new projects are designed to serve the evolving needs of travelers and residents across Egypt including brands such The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts and Autograph Collection.

Industry sources also confirmed that partnership signing agreement was held at the government headquarters in New Alamein City, and it took place under the auspices and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, and was attended by His Excellency Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Her Excellency Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and senior executives from Misr Italia Properties, Marriott International, and People & Places.
Anticipated projects include:
- Across Ras Al Hekma on the North Coast of Egypt to the east of Alexandria:
- A hotel under The Ritz-Carlton brand is slated to offer 170 guest rooms, alongside a 268-unit Ritz–Carlton Residences, located within the beachfront community, The Med Ras El Hekma.
- Situated within the integrated coastal destination of Solare Ras El Hekma, an Autograph Collection hotel, with 180 guest rooms will be adjoined by 250 Autograph Collection branded residences.
- Located at The Hills of One, a mixed-use development in Sphinx City within West Cairo, a Luxury Collection hotel is planned to offer 180 hotel rooms alongside 180 residences.
- Situated within Ain Sokhna’s flagship beachfront development Kai Sokhna Red Sea, An Autograph Collection hotel, with 80 hotel rooms will be co-located with 172 branded residences.
- A 100-room Autograph Collection hotel within Garden 8, a premiere lifestyle destination in East Cairo.

Speaking at the ceremony, His Excellency Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said: “The agreement reflects the growing confidence of investors and leading international hotel operators in Egypt’s tourism market, highlighting its attractiveness and continued expansion amid government efforts to establish a competitive and supportive investment environment.”
“Tourism remains one of the government’s priority sectors, supported by policies designed to accelerate tourism development, attract local and international investment and increase hotel capacity to accommodate the expected growth in inbound tourism. The Ministry’s current strategy focuses partly on improving the competitiveness of tourism investment, expanding hotel capacity and raising service quality.”
For her part, Her Excellency Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, said: “The government is placing significant emphasis on tourism and hotel investment in new cities as part of efforts to maximise the value of the urban infrastructure developed over recent years. Egypt’s new cities now offer advanced infrastructure, road networks and utilities capable of attracting further domestic and foreign investment in the tourism and hospitality sectors.”
“The Ministry is working to provide a diverse range of investment opportunities for hotels, tourism projects and entertainment developments tailored to the characteristics and competitive advantages of each city, particularly coastal cities and destinations with cultural and recreational attractions. Expanding these investments would create jobs, increase occupancy rates, support economic activity and improve the quality of life in new urban communities.”

Industry sources also added that the announcement further strengthens the relationship between Marriott International and Misr Italia following the signing of Marriott Executive Apartments and a Westin Residences in 2022. The anticipated projects will be located within the Il Bosco development in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital.
